What is a wave?
Sound is just air, moving in patterns
~5 min read
Sound is a pressure wave traveling through air. When a guitar string vibrates, it pushes the air around it, that air pushes the next layer, and so on - like a falling line of dominoes - until that motion reaches your eardrum.
A wave has three key measurements: frequency (how fast it repeats), amplitude (how big the pressure change is), and wavelength (the physical distance from one peak to the next).
