EQ: carving space for every element

Equalization raises or cuts frequency bands. The two big jobs:

• Subtractive EQ: remove what doesn't belong (rumble below 80 Hz on vocals, harsh 3 kHz on cymbals).
• Additive EQ: gently boost what makes a sound shine (air at 12 kHz on vocals, body at 200 Hz on snares).
