Joik and throat singing

~5 min read

The Sami joik is one of Europe's oldest living musical traditions - melodic, cyclical, often dedicated to a person, place or animal. Inuit throat singing (katajjaq) is typically a playful duet between two women, breath against breath.

«A joik is not about something - it IS that something.»
— Sami saying
