Fronts and storms
~5 min read
A front is a boundary between two air masses of different temperature and humidity. Storms tend to form along fronts.
- Cold front: cold air shoves warm air up rapidly - sharp showers, brief storms.
- Warm front: warm air slowly overrides cold air - longer rain, gradual clearing.
- Occluded front: a cold front catches up to a warm front - complex weather.
