Intervals - the distance between notes
~5 min read
An interval is the gap between two pitches, measured in semitones (half steps on a keyboard).
| Name | Semitones | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| Minor 2nd | 1 | Tense, dissonant |
| Major 3rd | 4 | Bright, major |
| Minor 3rd | 3 | Sad, minor |
| Perfect 5th | 7 | Stable, open |
| Octave | 12 | Same note, higher |
Every chord is just a chosen recipe of intervals stacked from a root note.
