The vocal cords are tiny, delicate folds of tissue. Treat them well:
- Hydration - water all day, not just before singing.
- Avoid throat clearing - it slams the cords together; sip water instead.
- Sleep matters more than warm-ups.
- No screaming. No smoking. Limit caffeine and alcohol before performance.
